"Denmark"

The Rail
See the world - Hop on the Whistle Stop Rail.

I've lived here in this little country of five and a
half million people over half of my life. This is a
country of flowers and long summer nights,
sailing, good food and humorous people.

The Danes love to discuss everything and anything under the sun.
Even though they don't think they are out-going and hospitable - they are!
How can they not be,when this is the country that
fostered Hans Christian Andersen, the most beloved fairy tale writer in the world!

Denmark is a little country of wheat fields, winding roads
through countrysides; thatched-roofed and timbered houses. A famous book says
that Denmark is "all islands" surrounded by sounds and seas,
filled with lakes and streams. These descendants from the Vikings are
proud people, proud of their heritage, even claiming that "Dannebrog",
their flag fell from heaven and is the oldest national flag
in the world.

Mealtimes are for being together with the family.
No TV dinners here! Everyone sits around the table and the
special lighting of rooms with small lamps in corners and
over tables create a feeling of togetherness.

One of the worst
things you could ever say to a Dane is;
"Where's Denmark - in Sweden?"
I have some links to pictures and info about
this little Scandinavian country in the North.
- and if you ever get the chance to go to Europe
- visit Denmark, you won't regret it
I didn't!

This is one of the most famous posters about Copenhagen.
There's a cute story about it.
As far as I remember, it was sent to a European poster competition
by mistake 25 years after it had been made!!
- And it won!!
It's a wonderful poster with the Hans Christian Andersen ducks
crossing the street, and the local policeman holding back traffic.
Maybe it represents the days, way back then, when we had
time to stop up - with a smile.

Here are some beautiful pictures of
the Danish Landscape. Enjoy!

It's witty, humoristic and right to the point!
It'll convince you that Denmark is more than bacon, lego and
