![]() ![]() pages here on the net about "The good old days", When things were better, and how a lot of things have changed for the worse. I'm not sure if I agree with that point of view. I believe we should keep our childhood memories close to our heart, but perhaps for completely different reasons - - those being: to understand the young people of today and to stay young at heart ourselves. What was wonderful about being a child was the way the world looked to us. Shiny, shimmering, golden, dazzeling and dreamlike - especially when looking back. I once read a story about a little mole who couldn't see in the daylight, and when he stuck his little head outside his molehill, he thought he was living in a land of diamonds, when in fact he was living in a junkyard. It really all depends on which eyes you use to see the world with. Maybe we miss our childhood eyes, and long for them when the world starts looking too much like a junkyard. ![]() I wrote a lyric to a lovely melody by the Danish composer Jorgen Emborg, called Remember? Maybe someone out there will find their childhood eyes by reading it. ![]() Remember - How sunny days were endless Stones were always diamonds And your name was on the wind. Remember - When your days were filled with magic And each and every moment Was the best that's ever been Imagine - where anything can happen Where the limit is the sky Somehow knowing- if you spread your wings you could fly Remember? - No don't forget,- remember The day that we grow old We've left it all behind Remember - the stars outside your window Wondering what's out there so far beyond the moon Remember - a day would last forever A seashell was a treasure from a land of make believe. Tomorrow - always longing for tomorrow When your dreams would all come true And believing every miracle - was for you... Remember? - no don't forget - remember The day that we grow old we've left it all behind The day that we grow old... We've left it all behind. ![]()
